What strategies do you use to cope with negative feelings?
When despair and uncertainty let themselves in without even ringing the doorbell and self-loathing has already been the all night companion, well, not an easy one to get rid of them. Strategies need a sane mind but with the above uninvited guests looming large, there can hardly be a productive thought process.
With age, I’ve realised that the best way to cope with it all is to let it pass. And it does, with patience and the constant reminder to self that it’s just a phase and will go away.
I look at the mirror and tell myself that it’s ok to have a downtime. That tomorrow will be a better day. I try to bring in a smile, coz that’s when I’m at my prettiest. I hold myself, and I let myself ease into it, maybe even weep through it. For I know, it’s just an overcast and tomorrow will be a beautiful day and a stronger beautiful me.

I try my best to not stay alone whenever I feel negative. I look for company of friends, family and people when I feel negative.

That’s a nice way to let it pass, if it works for you. And glad that you have a good support system whom you can fall back on . 🙂
