It’s that time of the year, when Kashmir adds to it’s crown, yet another natural jewel!
Kashmir, often referred to as “Paradise on Earth”, is generally known for its stunning landscapes, snow-capped mountains, serene lakes, and lush meadows. But there’s one more natural spectacle of Kashmir that adds to its beauty – the Tulip Festival. Held every spring, the tulip season in Kashmir transforms the region into a vibrant patchwork of colours.

The Annual Tulip Festival
The tulip festival is an annual spring festival held at the Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, previously known as Model Floriculture Center. Nestled in the foothills of the Zabarwan Range and on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar, this is Asia’s largest tulip garden covering around 30 hectares and has more than 1.5 million tulips in full bloom, each year! The layout of the garden is designed in such a way that visitors can wander through a sea of tulips, with each section dedicated to a particular colour or variety. The contrast of the tulips against the clear azure spring skies and the faraway majestic mountains is a photographer’s dream.

The Magic of Kashmir’s Tulip Season
The tulip bloom in Kashmir typically takes place from late March to early April. This year – 2025, the festival is from March 26th to April 20th! (Go pack!)!
The sheer vibrancy of the garden, with rows upon rows of tulips in hues of red, pink, yellow, white, and purple, is truly breathtaking. But these tulips aren’t by themselves! Giving them company are some other species of flowers like ranunculus, hyacinths and daffodils as well.
