After ~8 years, an unplanned trip to witness the magical Goan monsoon.
Goa during monsoon hits different. The rains wash away all the dust, the rice paddies and verdant forest cover look ethereal. The rivers, lakes, ponds, lagoons, are all brimming and the waterfalls are roaring with gorgeousness. It’s truly magical.
Back in what seems like a different era altogether, monsoons used to be off season in Goa and thus less crowded. But yeah, that was a different era. While winters are still considered the peak season for tourist footfall, monsoons too bring a downpour of tourists along with the rains.
North Goa has forever been the party place and crowded, but staying stuck in a place coz traffic won’t move was definitely a first this time around. Now your brown girl is allergic to crowds and noisy places, and if you’re one like me, staying away from Baga beach would be your best bet (Thank me later!). Even the less touristy beaches like Morjim and Ashwem were packed. If you’re one who loves clicking a couple thousand pictures of self, you’re gonna have to compromise and share the frame with just a few more candid picture seekers like you 🙂

Head over to South Goa, to witness the true pristine. It’s not devoid of crowd, but the narrow roads lined with the tallest coconut trees and the lush paddy fields will soothe your senses. The hues of green against the azure skies, the sun shining through the trees caressing you, feeds your soul like none other.
